INSTALLATION CONDITIONS FOR GARDEN BUILDINGS AND BESPOKE STRUCTURES FROM BEAR WOOD BV
When you choose Bear Wood BV for the installation of a garden building, the installation conditions below apply in addition to the standard terms of sale. It is essential that these conditions are read carefully before installation begins.
1. General responsibilities of the customer
Before installation can take place, the customer must ensure that all required permits and legal obligations for erecting the structure have been met. This applies to building projects as well as to installing garden buildings or other structures on the site. Bear Wood BV cannot be held liable if the customer does not meet these responsibilities.
If the customer wishes to cancel a planned installation, this must be done at least 48 hours before the appointment. If the appointment is on a Monday, cancellation must be made by the Thursday before at the latest. If the cancellation is made too late, the full installation cost will be charged as compensation.
2. Preparations and liability
If the installation location is part of a larger building project, installation can only take place after handover by the client or in consultation with the site manager. It is the customer’s responsibility to ensure the location is suitable for installing the structure. Bear Wood BV is not liable for defects in the location that hinder installation.
3. Warranties and the duty to report defects
The customer must be present during delivery of the goods to note any transport damage on the delivery note immediately. If there is damage, it must be reported in writing within 7 days of delivery, including photos of the damage. Transport damage must be recorded in photos before the packaging is opened.
The delivered goods must be opened and checked against the parts lists, that is, checked for damage and/or missing parts.
If installation by Bear Wood BV or a subcontractor cannot take place because of damage identified on site, the lost day reserved for installation will still be charged.
4. Facilities for installation
To ensure installation runs efficiently, the customer must provide running water, sanitary facilities and electricity (220V) within a radius of 30 metres of the site. If electricity is not available, the customer must inform Bear Wood BV at least 8 days before the planned installation, so that a generator can be arranged. The cost of hiring a generator is 100 euros per day, excluding VAT.
5. Accessibility of the site
The site must be accessible for a lorry of 10 to 15 tonnes. If the location is difficult to reach and the distance from the parking area to the work site is more than 30 metres, extra working hours will be charged at 50 euros excluding VAT per hour per installer.
6. Extra work outside the agreement
If work is needed that is not included in the original agreement, it must be agreed directly with the subcontractor of Bear Wood BV. The cost of extra work is 50 euros excluding VAT per hour per installer. If installation cannot be completed within the agreed time because of extra work, the additional day will be charged in full.
7. Foundation and technical preparations
If the foundation does not meet the required standards and extra working hours are needed, the customer bears the full cost of these extra hours. These costs are charged at 50 euros excluding VAT per hour per installer and must be paid directly at installation. If irregularities are found that prevent installation, such as a foundation that is not level, a fixed fee of 750 euros excluding VAT will be charged for lost working hours and additional costs.
The site must always be free of obstacles such as trees, shrubs or other objects that could hinder installation. Bear Wood BV reserves the right to refuse installation if the ground or access is not suitable for the work.
8. Working conditions and safety
During installation, no other work may take place nearby that could disrupt the progress of the installation. It is important that the customer ensures the work site is easily accessible and that there are no risks of damage to property or to the surroundings.
If the customer chooses to stop the work, all additional costs of resuming the work will be borne by the customer. This also includes any costs for new materials or labour.
9. Drilling and damage to existing materials
If drilling into existing materials that may be prone to breaking is required, this is only possible with the customer’s express permission. The customer takes responsibility for any damage caused by this work. Bear Wood BV is not liable for damage resulting from drilling into existing materials.
10. Presence of the customer during installation
The customer’s presence during installation is not strictly necessary, but it is important that the customer pays for any extra working hours immediately if they are needed. After installation, handover is carried out by the installation team, and if the customer is not present, they are deemed to agree to the handover.
Please note – a treated garden building is not finished once installed. You still need to do the following yourself:
- Adjust doors and windows after the wood has dried out
- Treat the garden building with water-repellent paint
- tension the storm battens if applicable
- tension the storm anchoring if applicable
