Delivery in the city — the sticking points
The big differences from rural deliveries:
- Street width — in the narrow streets around Het Zuid, Eilandje and the Schipperskwartier a standard lorry does not get through. We then switch to a smaller vehicle at no extra cost — though scheduling can take a little longer.
- Parking permit — for blue-zone streets you apply for a temporary permit via ParkeerWijzer or the city desk (check with the city of Antwerp for current rates).
- Tram lines — deliveries in streets with tram rails (Mechelsesteenweg, Turnhoutsebaan, Bredabaan) happen early in the morning to avoid conflicts.

Permits for garden houses in Antwerp
Antwerp follows the Flemish framework: under 40 m² ground area, under 3,5 m in height and at least 1 m from the plot boundary, a notification suffices (no permit required). Larger garden houses or departures from this need an environmental permit via the City of Antwerp e-desk.

Installation — yourself or have it done?
For smaller city-garden models many Antwerp customers choose to put the garden house up themselves (2 people, usually 1 day for a standard 3×3). For larger models (from 4×5) or design pool houses, installation by our own fitters is advisable — mainly because getting through narrow houses affects the assembly order.

Common mistakes with a garden house in Antwerp
A garden house is a 10+ year investment; most later problems are avoidable if you ask the right questions up front. Four recurring pitfalls we often see in gardens in Antwerp:
- No foundation, or an inadequate one, ready at delivery. A garden house standing directly on grass or loose slabs draws moisture from the ground and warps sooner. The foundation (e.g. concrete slabs or a concrete pad, laid level) is preparation on your side — not included in our delivery — and must be ready before we come to install.
- Too close to the plot boundary. Under the Flemish notification scheme there must be at least 1 m between the garden house and the neighbouring plot. Measure beforehand with a folding rule, not by eye.
- Checking the permit too late. A refusal once the timber is already on its way costs time and money. One visit or phone call to the planning department takes 10 minutes and avoids weeks of delay.
