Bear Wood is a Flemish timber merchant with coverage in all five provinces. What sets this approach apart: a single point of contact for your entire timber requirement, wherever your project is. Whether you are building in Veurne or in Lommel — one quote, one schedule, one supplier.
Coverage by province
Delivery across Flanders with a standard lead time of 2-3 weeks from the confirmed quote. Delivery cost calculated at address level.
- West Flanders: from Knokke to Ypres, Diksmuide to Kortrijk
- East Flanders: Ghent, Dendermonde, Aalst, Ronse, Eeklo
- Antwerp: city and province out to Herentals, Geel, Turnhout
- Flemish Brabant: Leuven, the Pajottenland, the Hageland out to Tienen and Diest
- Limburg: Hasselt, Genk, Maaseik, Tongeren, Maasmechelen
Most popular species by region
The differences are partly climate-driven, partly a matter of taste:
- Coast (West Flanders): thermowood and impregnated Douglas fir — salt and damp
- East Flanders and Antwerp: padauk and bangkirai — a broad palette between urban and rural
- Flemish Brabant (villa building): ipé and hardwood for the premium segment
- Limburg (rural): larch and Douglas fir for a rustic setting
Collection in Flanders
Collection is possible at several locations in Flanders. Which location is available for your order depends on the species and the volume. We arrange that choice — you order, we confirm where and when you can collect.
Wholesale vs. retail
For contractors and construction firms a B2B account is available with a dedicated contact, quarterly agreements and PEPPOL invoicing. For private customers the standard route (online quote → order → delivery or collection) is more than adequate.

Common mistakes when ordering timber in Flanders
People ordering timber for the first time often learn the expensive way what does not work. Four pitfalls:
- No complete materials list up front. “I’ll order the rest later” leads to several deliveries, higher transport costs and possible batch differences in colour or quality. Make your list complete before the first order.
- Wrong species for the application. Spruce in a decking structure without impregnation? It rots within 3 years. Padauk for a hidden substructure? Needlessly expensive. Match the timber to what it has to do.
- Underestimating transport. Long boards (over 3 m) do not fit in an ordinary car or a small trailer. Plan ahead: home delivery, or hire a larger vehicle.
- No allowance planned. Saw loss, wrong sizes, damage during assembly — allow 5-10 % extra material. Order that margin with the rest, or allow time for a second delivery.
